Dr. İlayda Şam is a Forensic Medicine Specialist at the Council of Forensic Medicine in Türkiye, whose career uniquely bridges clinical forensic practice and the science of human identification. Holding an MSc in Forensic Anthropology and currently pursuing a PhD in Forensic Anthropology at Ankara University, she has built a research profile centred on the legal and investigative impact of post-mortem CT imaging, a focus she brought to the international stage when she presented her study at the 29th Triennial Meeting of the International Association of Forensic Sciences (IAFS). Her published work in Forensic Science International and her participation in the Forensic Anthropology Society of Europe further reflect a commitment to advancing evidence-based, scientifically rigorous forensic investigation. As a member of the Virtual Autopsy Global Solutions Scientific Collaboration Group, Dr. Şam contributes precisely the multidisciplinary expertise, spanning forensic medicine, anthropology, and post-mortem imaging, that underpins the organisation's mission to establish non-invasive virtual autopsy as the new global standard in forensic death investigation.
